This event, has now completed the fourth year and is a timed Mountain Bike racing event arranged around a lapped course taking you through a magnificent and exciting route which is on The Goodwood Estate, featuring woodland, pine forest and open heath land.  The course is fully tapped and marked where necessary and with marshals to locate and secure safe collection of any walking wounded.

Mountain bike racing is increasing in popularity and the Goodwood Spring Challenge organised on Sunday 25th April and arranged by the Rotary Club of Chichester Priory has now establish a brilliant course and venue in the South for this popular sport.  200 riders and supporters took the challenge on the a day that started out wet and foggy and onto brilliant afternoon sunshine.  The riders maintained excellent speeds around the beautiful and technically testing 5.5 mile routes, each rider doing between 2 to 5 laps depending upon the event entered.  Full resultants are available on a click above  The course was arranged and fully marked out by members of our Rotary Club and two of our sponsors, Pete of Geared Bikes and Wear, Donnington and Martin of Southdown Bikes of Angmering.  Our special thanks go to the Goodwood Estates for allowing us to use the grounds and for the help and assistance provided leading up to the event and during the day and our sponsors Peter Cooper Volkeswagon, Beaver Tool Hire, Adur Communications and Donabie.com.

The event attracted large numbers of riders from across the South of England.  The riders were fully supported by a computerised results system providing position and lap time readouts on the day, race commentary, hot and cold refreshments, St. John Ambulance, marshalls around the course with radio link to our control tent, toilets and free parking.

The RIBI President David Fowler and District governor David Hodge and partners also supported us on the day.

Trophies were awarded to each of the three leading competitors in each event by the Rotary Priory President, Peter Bryan, who thanked the sponsors, the organising committee and for those Rotarians and friends without whose support and advice the event would not have taken place.  All proceeds from the event will go to Sussex Air Ambulance and Sophie Nugent.
